Amalienborg Museum student ticket

The same timed entry to Christian VIII's Palace, for students with valid student ID

The student ticket gives exactly the same visit as the adult ticket: timed entry to the Amalienborg Museum at the 15-minute slot you choose, with the kings' studies, the piano nobile and the Gala Hall, the Fabergé Chamber and Queen Alexandrine's Salon. The difference is the check at the door. The museum asks to see valid student ID at the entrance, and it is the museum that checks it, not us.

What to expect

You arrive on Amalienborg's cobbled square and enter Christian VIII's Palace through the gate nearest Frederiksgade. Show your ticket on your phone, or on paper, at the entrance within the slot you booked, then go down one level to the museum shop and cloakroom, where backpacks and larger bags go into the free lockers.

The route starts with the kings' studies: Frederik IX's bright room first, then back in time to Christian IX's dark, photo-filled corner study, Queen Louise's crowded sitting room, Frederik VIII's heavy study and Christian X's, the only one still in its original place. The Fabergé Chamber and Queen Alexandrine's Salon sit along the way.

Upstairs, the piano nobile opens into the gilded halls the royal family still uses for official visits and events, including the Gala Hall. Most people spend about an hour inside. There is no time limit, so if you want to come back out for the Changing of the Guard at noon, plan your slot around it.

Who it's not for

If you won't have valid student ID with you on the day, book the adult ticket instead; the museum makes the check, and we can't vouch for you at the door. Under-18s don't need a student ticket at all: they enter free with a free ticket. And if you hold a Copenhagen Card, the museum accepts it directly.
